Every June 21st, Paris (France) celebrates Fête de la Musique – the World Day of Music. It’s a holiday all about music, and the whole city gets involved by playing it in the streets. Imagine a giant block party! There are hundreds of sets all around the city, covering any and every genre; some big names this year were Diplo and Everyday People, who sometimes bring guests 🙂 not to mention they’re all ffrreeeeeeeeee!!!

It can get crowded, so be prepared – purchase accommodations in advanced for best pricing. I suggest you use public transportation, since many streets will be closed down for the block parties. And hydrate!!! Paris is really hot in June, and many places don’t have AC 😬

This year, I was very lucky to dodge a rare occurrence of needle pricks – there was allegedly 150+ women complaining about getting stabbed by syringe needles during the festival, and sent to the hospital for potential date-rape drug exposure. Be mindful of this, stay in a group with people you love. Also be mindful of pick-pocketers.

Despite all this, the energy at Paris’s Fete de la Musique is so upbeat and fun. Even though locals consider it a “casual event,” I—and lots of people from around the world—show up for this unique holiday every year. Definitely worth it for your “Eurosummer” itinerary!!
